Sundance Helicopters selected Richardson Wetzel Architects (RWA) to remodel and expand their existing facility at McCarran International Airport, Executive Terminal. Having outgrown the existing building that included aircraft hangars, a passenger terminal and administration offices, RWA’s decades-long experience at McCarran was an important factor in their choice for a design firm.
RWA designed the entrance to recall several key landscape features including native plants of the Sonoran Desert and Grand Canyon, one of the tour destinations.
RWA designed a large colorful floor mural map of the Las Vegas Valley and Grand Canyon route is located just inside the main entry. Night flights above the fabulous Las Vegas Strip and tours of the awe-inspiring Hoover Dam are recalled in the interior architectural features and lighting effects. An expansive balcony overlooks the gate hold area, a gift shop, VIP rooms and a lounge, with custom railings featuring aviation-inspired stainless steel cable details.
